Foundational Curriculum

HOW CHILDREN LEARN AT THE FOUNDATIONAL STAGE

Children learn best through play - through activity and doing. They enjoy running, jumping, crawling, and balancing. They respond spontaneously to rhythm, talk, ask questions, and reason out answers. Their learning is primarily through first-hand experiences involving manipulation, exploration, and experimentation. At this stage, learning is an active and interactive process, where children learn through play and interaction with others. Nurturing children's playing and playfulness can strengthen their learning, innovation, creativity, and problem-solving abilities in diverse and unique ways.

01. HOLISTIC DEVELOPMENT

Holistic development refers to a child's development in all areas, including physical, social, emotional, intellectual, and moral/spiritual. Play is the primary medium through which children learn most effectively during their formative years. KUNDAN VIDYA MANDIR follows the NEP 2020 curriculum, which includes informative workshops and comprehensive training sessions, adopting a multidisciplinary approach to education to focus on holistic development.

02. INNOVATIVE THEMATIC CURRICULUM

The innovative thematic curriculum has been introduced in Nursery, LKG, and UKG classes of foundation years. Mind mapping is a highlighted aspect, for which the staff has received extensive training under the guidance of our Principal, Mr. A.P. Sharma. Activities for skill development are tailored according to individual differences to provide a perspective to parents as well. Classrooms and corridors are decorated according to the themes.

03. LSRW METHOD OF LEARNING

LSRW (Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing) method is integral to acquiring learning abilities. These skills are acquired sequentially, starting with listening, followed by speaking, reading, and writing.

04. EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING

Experiential Learning is the process of learning by doing. By engaging students in hands-on experiences and reflection, they can connect theories and knowledge learned in the classroom to real-world situations.

05. TOY PEDAGOGY

Using toys provides learners with opportunities to explore, imagine, observe, create, express, and engage productively in play-based learning

06. FITNESS PROGRAMS

The concept of fitness badges has been introduced for completing physical activities like jumping and running, making fitness enjoyable for children.

07. PLAY-BASED LEARNING

A play-based learning environment encourages talking, reading, writing, and thinking. Various strategies are used to help children learn skills and understand concepts.

08. FOCUS ON FINE MOTOR SKILLS

Fine motor skills, involving coordination of small muscles in movement with eyes, hands, and fingers, aid in intelligence growth and develop continuously throughout all stages of human development.

09. FOCUS ON GROSS MOTOR SKILLS

Practice helps children develop and use gross motor skills for moving with balance, coordination, ease, and confidence in their world.

10. FOCUS ON SENSORIAL ACTIVITIES

Sensorial activities help children think cognitively, aiding in future learning and personal and interpersonal development.

11. MINDFULNESS

Mindfulness for children promotes focus, self-awareness, and emotional well-being, helping them develop important skills for self-management and building resilience.
